Exterior Doors
An exterior door has to meet much more requirements than whatever interior door. Security and the keeping of warmth are surely of the first importance, but one cannot underestimate the door's quality of remaining straight and stable. An entrance door is usually placed into complicated weather conditions. Sometimes steady rain or long-lasting dampness and cold; then again hot sun and dryness from the outside, and coolness from the other side. Only professionally made doors remain true to their initial shape and appearance after having experienced all that.
Compared to an interior door that is almost maintenance-free, an entrance door should be looked over once a year; and the condition of exterior surface, locks and hinges should be appraised. The value of a well-chosen and correctly serviced entrance door changes like a good wine. But in case of incorrect servicing, even a good wine could not maintain its value.
